Howard Sprouse has been
an entrepreneur and business owner as long as he can remember, having
owned fishing boats, a butcher shop, a metals fabrication company,
and a boat building business over the past 30 years.
However to Sprouse those other businesses were a classroom, preparing
him for his most recent creation . . . a financially solvent, market
driven corporation whose bottom-line isnt just about money,
its about environmental restoration as well.
Raised in Vancouver, Washington, and having lived on Washington
States Olympic Peninsula most of his life, Sprouse first envisioned
his biological soils remediation company more than ten years ago,
when he dreamt of a company which relies on the natural ability
of micro-organisms to break down petroleum (and other hazardous
chemicals) as a competitive and environmentally sound alternative
to other methods used by the industry.
A recent cleanup project in the backyard of a Port Townsend, Washington
residence marks the christening of Sprouses newest corporate
identity, The Remediators, Inc. Sprouse founded the company in 2003,
and has been working on various projects for a number of years.
The emphasis until now has been on developing feasibility studies,
bench tests and bio-prospecting for new microbes for
the remediation jobs. Now The Remediators Inc. is ready to get its
feet into the mud, and thats just where Sprouse says he feels
most comfortable.
